Episode 12 The Aftermath of the Election.

“Hasbunallahu wa-ni’mal wakeel” “Allah is sufficient for us and He is our Guardian

As Muslims we believe that nothing can be done without Allah’s decree, including Trump being elected presadent.

“Laa hawla wa laa quwwata illa Billaah: There is no power and no strength except with Allah is a person’s admission that they are unable to do anything without the help and support of Allah. No matter how great his power, energy and strength may become, a person still cannot do anything without the help of Allaah Who is Above all of His creation, the Most Great, compared to Whom nothing else is great.” Islam Q&A

Everyone who voted against Trump did their best to tie their camel. the outcome is out of our control. That doesn’t mean our work is done, we will have to hold him and other politicians to the laws and values of this country and the world.

I know many of us are still angry, and anxious about the direction our country is taking. But let’s put everything in perspective. This election is a direct result of the divide in America and all over the world and one that is not even new. The rich and poor have always been divided, black and white have always been divided, the educated and the uneducated, and so on. We all have barriers between us that need to be brought down and that can only be done through mutual respect and understanding of our different views.

Show Notes:

How did we get here?
The DNC made a huge mistake nominating an extremely flawed candidate. They knew going in how unpopular she was in the eye of both Democrats and Republicans. No one was able to forget Banghazi, the emails, the Clinton foundation, and calling African Americans “super predators”

They should have given all the backing and resources to Sen. Bernie Sanders. He is also anti-establishment but not a bigot. I believe he would have had a better chance.

The last reason is what Van Jones called a ‘whitelash’

“This was a white-lash against a changing country,” he said. “It was a white-lash against a black president in part, and that’s the part where the pain comes. And Donald Trump has a responsibility tonight to come out and reassure people that he is going to be the president of all the people who he insulted and offended and brushed aside.”

What is Next?

Take a breather. We are all angry and anxious its ok to take step back and take care of your emotional and mental health, but don’t forget we have work to do.

Civic Engagement

Get involved in the issues that are important to the larger community not just muslims, BLM, Standing rock #nodapl, the LGBT, and all minority and oppressed groups.

Community Outreach

Give back, winter is coming, lets start filling the food pantries , winter coat drives, lets start helping people who don’t worship the same way we do. We can’t be surprised if people are anti-Muslims when they don’t even know one Muslim because we stick to our own community

Our local Mosques received a kind note and flowers from a lovely neighbor. Here is a little part of it “I am praying for your community, that you would feel peace and courage in the midst of fear, pain and uncertainty. I am praying for your children, who see a man like this representing the country they live in.” -Kathryn

So many people are sharing acts of kindness just like this one and its much needed for our souls. Please keep sharing them.
