Podmas day 6 Highlighting philanthropist Asha Farah
In today's episode of podmas, I wanted to highlight an amazing Muslim woman named Asha Farah. I met Asha at the SNABI conference, and unfortunately, the audio during her talk didn't come out properly in the recording, but I wanted to share a little bit of her story today.
Asha Farah is a corporate Real Estate Manager at Starbucks Coffee Company in Seattle, Washington. She Has over 18 of experience in corporate America.
In her childhood Asha and her family where real Nomads; they traveled from area to area looking for land for their family to live and for their animals to graze. Unfortunately, with the nomadic lifestyle you are beholden to the weather, when there isn't enough rain, you risk famine for the family and the animals. When it rains too much, you risk losing, your life, home and livestock. You have to become adaptable to moving quickly.
Asha is leaving a legacy of giving back that she learned from her family. She shared with us the story of how it took one member of her family, choosing a different life that changed the trajectory of her family's life. Her uncle not only moved to the city in search of education and work, but he would routinely bring a boy from each family to the town for school. One of these boys was Asha's brother, who became a police officer, and when the weather because disasters for the family, he brought everyone to the city for a better life. This same brother later brought Asha to America.
I hope that one day we are in a position to give back to our community like Asha May Allah increase her blessings, Ameen.
Tune in tomorrow for another episode and don't forget to subscribe.
